White Sorghum, known as Vellai Cholam in South India, is a biological marvel of drought-resilient nutrition. Unlike modern hybrid cereals, Sorghum is packed with phenolic compounds and dietary fiber that slow down the digestion of starch, providing a steady "time-released" energy flow to the body. Switching to Sorghum Aval is a commitment to a heart-healthy, gluten-free lifestyle that reduces internal inflammation and supports metabolic longevity.

💡 How to Prepare / Use (Step-by-Step)

Prep: White Sorghum flakes are moderately sturdy. Place the Aval in a strainer and rinse gently under running water. Soak the flakes in a bowl of clean water for 4–6 minutes—just enough until they soften but retain their shape.

Method: Drain the water thoroughly. In a wide pan, heat some cold-pressed oil and temper with mustard, cumin, and curry leaves. Sauté vegetables and spices of your choice. Add the soaked Cholam flakes and toss gently on medium-low heat for 3 minutes to lock in the flavors.

Serve/Enjoy: Perfect as a light Vellai Cholam Poha for breakfast. It also makes an incredible gluten-free base for Aval Kesari (sweet pudding) when cooked with organic ghee, saffron, and nuts.
