Conventional white suji or processed wheat rava goes through aggressive industrial milling that completely strips away the grain's protective bran and vital germ layers. This leaves you with simple starches that cause sudden blood sugar spikes, chronic fatigue, and gut inflammation. Ayini Organic Solam Rava (Sorghum Rava) provides a profound, low-glycemic, and gluten-free upgrade for your kitchen. Cultivated for generations in the sun-drenched drylands of South Indian heritage agriculture, Sorghum (Solam) is a robust super-grain naturally loaded with tissue-protecting polyphenols, bone-fortifying minerals, and cellular antioxidants. By carefully de-hulling and coarse-milling whole, unpolished native Solam grains, we deliver a premium, nutrient-dense semolina that stabilizes your energy and honors your metabolic pathways.

💡 How to Prepare / Use

  • Prep: Measure 1 cup of Ayini Solam Rava. To unlock its signature earthy, toasted aroma and guarantee a beautifully non-sticky texture, gently dry-roast the rava in a heavy-bottomed pan over a low flame for 2 to 3 minutes until warm to the touch. Set aside.

  • Method:

    • For Fluffy Solam Upma / Khichdi: Heat 1 tablespoon of cold-pressed oil or pure Desi ghee in a pan. Temper with mustard seeds, lentils, green chilies, and fresh vegetables. Pour in 3 cups of water (Sorghum thrives with a tiny bit of extra moisture) and bring it to a rolling boil with rock salt. Reduce the flame to low, slowly stream in the roasted Sorghum Rava while stirring continuously to prevent lumps. Cover with a tight lid and let it steam-cook on low heat for 8 to 10 minutes until all the water is perfectly absorbed.

    • For Wholesome Millet Kozhukattai: Steam-cook the seasoned rava mixture into small, dense dumplings for an oil-free, traditional evening tiffin.

  • Serve / Enjoy: Fluff the steaming hot Solam Upma gently with a fork, garnish with fresh grated coconut, and serve alongside fresh tomato chutney, sambar, or a spoonful of ghee. Store the remaining dry rava in an airtight glass container in a cool, dry place.
