Pearl Millet Vermicelli / Kambu Semiya 180gm

Pearl Millet, known as Kambu in South India, is an ancient "super-grain" that has sustained the agrarian lifestyle for millennia due to its exceptional cooling properties and high iron content. Unlike refined flour (Maida) vermicelli which causes rapid glucose spikes, our Pearl Millet vermicelli offers a complex carbohydrate structure, ensuring a slow release of energy and sustained satiety for the body.

💡 How to Prepare / Use

The Cold Soak: Place the Pearl Millet vermicelli in a bowl of room-temperature water with a pinch of salt for exactly 2 to 3 minutes. Do not over-soak, as millets are naturally absorbent.

The Steam Cook: Drain the water completely. Place the softened vermicelli in a steamer or idli cooker and steam for 5 to 7 minutes until the strands are tender yet firm (al dente).

The Tempering: Heat a teaspoon of cold-pressed oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and sautéed vegetables. Toss the steamed vermicelli gently into the mixture and serve hot as a nutritious Upma or a sweet Payasam.
