Kodo Millet Flattened Rice / Varagu Aval 200gm
Kodo Millet, known as Varagu in South India, is biologically unique for its high concentration of polyphenols and dietary fiber, which act as a powerful internal "filter" for the blood. Historically favored by sages and traditional healers, switching to Kodo Aval provides a gluten-free, low-glycemic fuel that actively supports kidney function and helps flush out toxins, making it an essential switch for those prioritizing deep cellular detoxification.

💡 How to Prepare / Use (Step-by-Step)
Prep: Kodo flakes are very absorbent. Place the Aval in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse briefly under a gentle stream of water. Do not soak in a bowl. Let the flakes rest in the strainer for 3–5 minutes to allow them to soften evenly using the surface moisture.
Method: Heat a pan with cold-pressed gingelly oil. Temper with mustard seeds, urad dal, and dried red chilies. Add finely chopped vegetables and sauté until tender. Gently fluff the moistened Kodo flakes into the pan. Cover and steam on the lowest heat for just 2 minutes to lock in the nutrients.
Serve/Enjoy: Best served as a light Varagu Aval Upma with a sprinkle of freshly grated coconut. It also makes a wonderful, cooling Millet Curd Rice when mixed with yogurt and tempered with ginger and curry leaves.
