By switching to Ayini’s Ragi Aval, you are providing your body with a natural, plant-based source of bone-fortifying minerals and essential amino acids like Methionine and Lysine, which are critical for skin elasticity and muscle metabolic health.

About this item

🦴 Purity & Sourcing: Organic and gluten-free; our Ragi is sourced from traditional farming clusters and flattened using a cold-press process to keep the heat-sensitive nutrients and fibers intact.

🧬 The Science of Nutrition: Boasts the highest concentration of Calcium and Iron among millets, along with Thiamine and Riboflavin, which are essential for nerve conduction and energy production.

🩸 Health Impact: A premier choice for nursing mothers to boost lactation, for children to support skeletal growth, and for diabetics due to its slow-digesting starch that prevents glucose spikes.

🏺 Heritage & Origin: An ancient "famine-resilient" grain of South India, Ragi has been the foundation of the rural Indian diet for millennia, celebrated for its cooling properties and life-sustaining density.

🥣 Taste Profile: A deep, malty, and slightly sweet flavor with a delicate yet grainy texture that provides a uniquely wholesome and comforting mouthfeel.

💡 How to Prepare / Use (Step-by-Step)

Prep: Finger Millet flakes are very porous and delicate. Do not soak them in a bowl of water. Instead, place the Ragi Aval in a mesh strainer and rinse quickly under a gentle tap. Let it rest in the strainer for 2–3 minutes; the absorbed moisture will be enough to soften it perfectly.

Method: To make a savory Ragi Poha, sauté onions, chilies, and peanuts in a pan. Once the vegetables are soft, gently fluff the dampened Ragi flakes into the pan. Cover and steam on the lowest heat for just 1–2 minutes to avoid the flakes becoming too mushy.

Serve/Enjoy: Best enjoyed as a warm, savory breakfast with a side of coconut chutney, or as a "Ragi Sweet Aval" by mixing the softened flakes with grated coconut, jaggery, and a pinch of cardamom.
